For our New Beginnings program this year our ward did a painting theme. The room was decorated with paint drop cloths, two ladders on which each step of the ladder had a see-through paint can with a different color of tissue paper in it and huge poster pallets on the front of the room. One of the pallets said “Color your life with personal progress” and one said “Paint a New Beginning.” One pallet was already filled with paint colors, the other was empty.

We had the young women speak about each value and after they spoke about it they put the corresponding color up on the pallet. the dessert was a rainbow cake made with different colors of jello and a cake mix.

The room looked so pretty but we were so busy doing everything that I forgot to take a picture of it. But I do have a picture of the handout I gave them. It’s a pallet that I designed and hand painted and laminated. We bought pallet charms at an online charm store and I attached them with ribbon to the pallets. We are giving the girls charms this year for completing designated goals. (I’ll talk more about that in a later post) and the pallet charm was just one for everyone to get started.

I had so much fun making these. It took all evening, but what better thing to do on a Friday night when your husband is busy with church stuff than to listen to Bach’s B-Minor Mass and paint, cut out and laminate painter’s pallets! If you enlarge the picture you can even see how the gold sparkles! The colors on the pallet of course correspond to the 8 values in the Young Women’s theme. It was a successful evening. I can definitely recommend it as a good New Beginnings theme.
